Wayman Tisdale - Hang Time(2004)

Tisdale may never completely step out of the shadow of the great bassist Stanley Clarke, but he is further emerging with his own voice on each album--and Clarke has never led the NCAA in scoring. The former pro hoopster can't help the Clarke-influenced phrasing he burns into "Ready to Hang," "The Time Is Here," and "Off Into It." Producer/keyboardist Jeff Lorber makes everybody on his team better, and he's in the lineup on three tracks. Synthesizer programmer James Lloyd from Pieces of a Dream also contributes with a duet on the title track, feeding Tisdale a funky slam dunk. Tisdale's cover of "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" could easily cross over to the urban pop market, but his version of Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'" is the only real air ball.

Albom review
Wayman just keeps getting better and better. I think another thing that is so endearing about him is his personality permeates his projects so that one immediately feels most comfortable with him.
Here it is no different. He has a wonderful song for his son some great remixes of older hits and, of course, his dedication to his maker - something he has done on all his projects. As a matter of fact, one of the highlights of all his projects is his interpretation of a religious-themed project.
This is time he is joined by the likes of Jeff Lorber and George Duke. Just doesn't get much better than that.
This is indeed another eeeeeeeeexcellent cd by Wayman that you will definitely enjoy over and over again. The guy just exudes good vibes and when you listen to his music, that just heightens the musical experience.
Good project - good people - worthy addition to any music collection.
