Lemon

Producer Kenny Lehman was the brainchild and force behind the project known as Lemon. Lehman's credits include work on Chelsea Beige's 1971 release and Chic's 1977 debut album.

Kenny brought a top notch group of studio musicians and singers together for a series of sessions to record six tracks he had co-written with a host of writers most notably Steve Boston in early 1978. Among the talents, and legends, that participated on this project were musicians Jimmy Maelen, Lance Quinn and Gene Orloff. Singers included Gordon Grody (who helped with arrangements), Lani Groves, David Lasley and Luther Vandross and Diva Gray, both of whom would have their own disco careers later.

Lehman, who co-wrote, arranged, conducted and produced the entire sessions for Aria Productions licensed the first completed track to Salsoul Records. Salsoul released a yellow vinyl 12" single of "Freak On" to rave reviews. The song sailed up the charts and became a certified summer hit. For reasons unknown he then took the remaining masters to Prelude. "Lemon," was released that summer and the intial response was tepid, all that changed with the remixed 12" single of "Chance To Dance" and "A-Freak-A." Once again Kenny had his hand in this area as well, but it's likely that Francois K. had the most input.

The remaining three tracks were as equally powerful, "Hot Hands," "Hot Bodies" and "Inside My Heart" also enjoyed club play rotation. Despite the massive appeal of the album, another project bearing the banner Lemon was not forth coming and it would go down as one of disco's one-hit wonder studio groups.

Kenny Lehman would continue on arranging, writing and producing. He had two additional hits in 1983 when he resurrected Rhetta Hughes saging career with the 12" singles of "Angel Man" and "Crisis." Lehman has kept his hand in the industry throughout the years and his most recent work was as arranger and producer on the "Son Of Sam" soundtrack and arranger for Joey and Norman Jay's 2000 release "Good Times".

Только сделай поправку на название альбома. Вместо Lemon 1978 правильно будет A-Freak-A1978

Виниловый вариант пластинки, выпущенный фирмой Prelude Records в 1978 году, действительно назывался "A-Freak-A" и содержал всего 6 треков.

Remaster, выпущенный на CD в 1992 году фирмой Unidisc, это название "потерял" (см. обложку, вложенную в архив), зато "приобрёл" два бонусных трека, выпущенных в 1978 году только на 12"-х синглах.
